Charitable

We, at Highland Forwarding and Highland Project Logistics, help the flow of foreign commerce. But we are also a big beneficiary of free trade.  We feel great responsibility and gratitude to the world economy that helps to make a company such as ours possible.

Charity Water

In 2011, we paCHARITY WATER LOGOrtnered with a New York based charitable organization called Charity Water.

They help provide clean drinking water to the poorest people on Earth and drill wells in the most remote African villages. Their work makes a difference to the women who have to walk 10 hours round trip to fetch a jug of dirty infested water from a puddle or having a well with a pump nearby. Not only will they live healthier lives but the mother will also have 10 hours more every day to take care of her children and family.

We want to share part of our success with people that have so far not been touched by benefits of foreign trade. That is why we are supporting Charity Water.

In 2011, we made personal contact with Charity Water’s founder, Scott Harrison, and we found a unique logistics opportunity!  Charity Water had purchased a one million USD drilling truck in Italy and had to get it shipped to Ethiopia. We offered to fully pay and arrange the shipping of the truck and two open top containers on a ro/ro carrier direct from the Port of Genoa to Ethiopia. The value of our donation was over US $30,000.

Local – Global Outreach

In 2016, we announced a matching contribution for volunteer work of our employees.  For every volunteer hour our employees spend helping others in the local community, Highland will donate $15 USD toward the purchase of a new drilled well in Africa.  The whole project can be arranged for about $6,000 USD. After just 400 hours of local volunteering, we will be able to help another African village get clean drinking water.  We think this is a perfect blend of local and global charitable outreach!

New Hampshire Food Bank

We have a long standing tradition every year: our employees collect and donate canned and dry foods that we then deliver to the New Hampshire Food Bank. The New Hampshire Food Bank helps to feed people in need in our local community. Every year we donate over 150 lbs of food.

New Hampshire Families in Transition

Every year we donate new clothing and books to a “Families in Transition”. Their mission is to provide safe, affordable housing and social services to families who are homeless. Our donation helps to:

  • Keep a  child warm in the winter with a hat and pair of gloves
  • Provide a child with a cozy pair of brand new pajamas
  • Donate a toy to be given to a child by Santa
  • Donate a toy or brand new book for ‘Birthday to Remember Program’
